What’s New in Technology for Your Home?

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

A few weeks ago, we got to attend the Viking® Experience at The GSC.  It was tremendous to check out all of the innovation in kitchen appliances.  They have many distinct kitchens to show the array of design options available with Viking Appliances.  I am still trying to pick my favorite kitchen.  With over 23 color finishes to choose from, your can really customize your kitchen.  Here’s a photo of the Viking® representative showing us the finish options:

They also showed us just how fast an Induction Cooktop can boil water, it is faster than fast.  I just may convert to Induction from Gas in my next kitchen.

And, they offer Brunch dates for you to enjoy a product demonstration and a scrumptious brunch prepared by Kathryn, their culinary director.  If you’re a SummerHill homebuyer, our design team can arrange a private appointment at the Viking® Experience at The GSC for you to learn about your new appliances available standard at Satake Estates and as options at some of our other communities.

Oh, there are a few more innovations in technology for your home that I couldn’t resist sharing…

New Home Feed launched about a month ago and I’ve been testing it in Beta.  It sure is making it easier for me to update listings to all these sites, so that we’re sure that interested homebuyers are getting up to date information. (more…)

Green – Fact or Fiction?

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

An article in Fortune Magazine recently, Green Myths Debunked, talked about everything from bottled water (tap water is safer) to CFLs (make the switch from incandescent today!) to Christmas trees (yes it is better to have a real one than a fake one) and many more.  This got me thinking about our own communities and what really matters about green.

There is a lot of talk about green in homebuilding.  We are proud to have had high standards in our homes that were initiated with sustainability in mind long before sustainability was trendy.   (more…)

Who do you trust? Headlines & Stories about real estate are a mixed bag

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

We work in the Real Estate market and the headlines make even my head spin.  Many of the stories can be spun in different directions and the trend seems to pull out the negative facts for a catchy title that gets clicks.  The facts are often buried in the story. (more…)

Who’s ready for another round of Real Estate Today? (Applause applause and…)

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

First question…The big news this week regarding new home construction was- (buzz buzz buzz) CNNMoney- what’s the answer?

-This week it was reported that although housing starts have fallen over the last quarter, permit requests from builders have sky rocketed. This is the largest request for permits since Summer of 2008 and was a pleasant surprise for the market. (more…)

A Turning Market

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

When a market is undergoing change, there is a time where the changes starts happening before we fully recognize that they are happening. The past 6 months have been full of change. We are the first to say we are astonished by the activity levels that we’ve seen and continue to see with our “Mrs. Hill” live chat service seeing significant increase in activity since the start of the year as well as seeing more and more prospective homebuyers at each of our new home communities. A Grown-Up’s Letter to Santa (ps. he read it too!)

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Dear Santa,

Please note, I am no longer at my past residence as I have purchased myself an early Christmas present. I figured a 2,000 sq ft. home would be little tough to fit in your sleigh so I decided to take some initiative and help you out. I didn’t know you had elves trained in construction and design, but these SummerHill elves have been working round the clock to build my new house at Satake Estates. Here is a list of the “nice” features you may not have realized you gifted me…
