As a company, we have experienced a lot of change in the past 3 years.  Last weekend marked the start of the next era of SummerHill with  the opening of The Enclave at Waverly Park in Mountain View.  We have several more communities coming soon – Creekside at Saratoga in Saratoga and Roubion in San Ramon.  And, of course we are working on even more new communities.

Turn-key is defined as a spec home ready for immediate move-in, which is much of the “new” on the Peninsula.
SummerHill’s homes are different. Â We build brand new from the foundation up.
Depending on when you purchase your home, you get to personalize your home to get more early in the construction of the home and a bit less if you purchase later in the construction of the home. Â (more…)

First question…The big news this week regarding new home construction was- (buzz buzz buzz) CNNMoney- what’s the answer?
-This week it was reported that although housing starts have fallen over the last quarter, permit requests from builders have sky rocketed. This is the largest request for permits since Summer of 2008 and was a pleasant surprise for the market. (more…)

During a planning meeting yesterday morning, our ceiling started to shake as if the financial corporation upstairs were having an astro jump party without us. My co-worker asked, “Hey, what IS that? Is it an… an earthquake?†to which someone quickly responded, “You think ONLY the roof would shake if it were an earthquake- oh come onâ€. Little did we know, just a few miles away, the center of a 4.1 earthquake struck at 10:30am. (more…)

Dear Santa,
Please note, I am no longer at my past residence as I have purchased myself an early Christmas present. I figured a 2,000 sq ft. home would be little tough to fit in your sleigh so I decided to take some initiative and help you out. I didn’t know you had elves trained in construction and design, but these SummerHill elves have been working round the clock to build my new house at Satake Estates. Here is a list of the “nice†features you may not have realized you gifted me…

It’s been a while since our last round of Real Estate in 6 lines or less… hope you enjoy!
The news this week has mostly focused on our sister market, commercial real estate, as it continues to struggle through this tough time- see this Forbes.com summary article. Meanwhile, CNN published a story about the ups and downs of small real estate business. Local news regarding the home market has improved, the SJMN says prices are up in the Silicon Valley. With the newly extended tax credit, many  are forecasting a bright 2010. Here’s our quick referral sheet for more information about this great tax extension.
Happy Friday!
