New Releases in Palo Alto and Mt. View

Friday, March 19th, 2010

I don’t know about you all, but I feel like this year is just going so fast! Can you believe the first day of Spring is tomorrow?!? Weren’t we just recovering from baking cookies at Christmas, paying Valentines Day bills, starting a new school semester and eating corned beef (oh wait- we were just eating corned beef! Corned beef sandwich leftovers are the best!)

Well, as the season would have it, we are springing into action at Redwood Gate and Satake this week with brand new releases of homes.

A Round of Applause for Rollingwood Elementary

Monday, March 8th, 2010

We are proud to announce that Merimont’s elementary school, Rollingwood in San Bruno, received a 37 point improvement on the Academic Performance Index (API) scale.

Here is Principal Mikulik’s response regarding this great score improvement:
“Rollingwood School staff prides ourselves on meeting the needs of ALL children we serve. We provide differentiated instruction in the classroom as well as small group instruction and intervention after school. We teach the whole child (academic, physical, and emotional) which translates into better performance in school. I am proud of our school and offer tours for interested families.”

Check out these photos from the Rollingwood Photo Gallery- these kids are having (dare I say) FUN at school!

Friday, February 19th, 2010

Happy Chinese New Year that is! The 2010 Chinese New Year began on February 14th with the new moon and involves a host of festivities lasting approximately 2 weeks. Welcome the Year of the Tiger (see a traditional chinese papercut version of the tiger below). The Tiger is a sign of bravery and brings protection, courage and power. Sounds to me like a much needed sign for this recovering economy. If you are looking for ways to welcome this encouraging sign, you don’t have to look far! Here are some local ways to celebrate this Chinese New Year!

Conquer Super Bowl Anticipation

Friday, February 5th, 2010

Or at least have an excuse to unglue your eyeballs from NFL.com and media day to enjoy some home town sports news.  And so it is with eager anticipation of this year’s 44th Annual Super Bowl that we look at the success of our local community high school sports teams as 2010 kicks off at great year.

A Homeowner’s Story: Love at First Sight

Monday, January 18th, 2010

As we decided to relocate to the Bay Area and were looking for a house, we had a few houses in Los Altos in our mind.  However, considering both of us are working full-time with two kids under three years old, we were wondering if we’ll be able maintain a 30 to 50 year-old house.

Our new home

Then, when we visited model houses at Redwood Gate, we fell in love with them at first sight.  First, it has great Palo Alto schools.  Second, the floor plan fits in our need – the first floor has a spacious open plan where our kids can play around while we are cooking or even working with the laptops sitting in the kitchen island.  Third, when we walked around the area we loved the beautiful trees all around the place!

Nothing Matters when you’re Hungry…

Halloween parties with ghoulish treats, hot drinks and always too much food… Sound familiar?

Probably, and it sounds familiar to me too. Luckily, my family has always had enough (more than enough) food for parties, holidays, and every day. But some folks here in my community aren’t so lucky. Every month the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo counties provides food to more than 207,000 people. (more…)

One?! There’s just One?!

Monday, October 5th, 2009

Another beautiful day at EchelonOne?! That’s it?!

That’s right… 15 months and 74 happy homeowners later, only one home remains at Echelon in Palo Alto.

Think back to June of 2008. What were you doing? Finishing up the school year? Planning a summer camping trip with the family? I distinctly remember June 2008 because it was hot… very hot. (more…)
